On International Volunteer Day today (5 December), we celebrate the contributions of Changi Service Ambassadors (CSAs) who often go the extra mile to deliver the iconic Changi Experience to our passengers. These ambassadors are volunteers and come from varied backgrounds, some of whom are retirees and homemakers. They all share a common motivation of wanting to give back to society. Angela Fung, who has served for seven years, shared an encounter she had. “An elderly Indian couple was transiting from New Delhi to Sydney to meet their son. The wife approached me in broken English and frantic hand gestures, communicating that she could not find her husband in transit. Through various communication methods, I gathered that she was last with him at the GST refund area. I walked her there and she was reunited with him. She was so grateful that she gave me a big hug. About a month later, when I was at Terminal 3, the same lady came up to me and smiled so broadly while giving the thumbs up. The couple was on their return flight home to India. The husband, who could speak English, told me that his wife was full of praise about Changi’s staff. This really made my day.”
